MR2 emergency call system failure
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Toyota MR2 owner is experiencing a failure in the emergency call system, indicated by an error message and warning light. The suspected cause is a defective cable or plug connection. Another owner with a similar issue suggests checking the telematics module for faulty connections and recommends obtaining diagnostic codes to identify the problem. The solution involved re-seating a loose connector, which resolved the issue after a garage visit.

Good question. I haven’t pulled the diagnostic codes yet, but I can do that. Where did you find the source of the issue on your car?

I traced it back to a faulty connection in the telematics module, causing call failures. If you don't have the gear, I'd suggest getting a workshop to take a look. It was a pain to get to. Cost me some money, but worth it to be safe. I recommend checking the wiring before replacing the module.

Thanks! I'll start by checking the connections and grabbing those diagnostic codes. I appreciate the advice. It ended up costing 95€ to fix after a visit to the garage; they re-seated a loose connector.

Hey, I’ve experienced something similar with my MR2. Although mine's not the same year, the telematics system threw a fit. Do you have any diagnostic codes? Wondering if it's a control module issue or maybe something with the SOS signal itself. Was really frustrating.
