MR2 Mirror Heating Defect

My 2007 Toyota MR2 with a gasoline engine has defective mirror heating. Symptoms are simply 'Mirror heating without function', and 'Error stored in the error memory' when I read the car's computer. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection.

Summary of the thread

The 2007 Toyota MR2 has a defective mirror heating system, with symptoms including non-functional heating and an error stored in the car's computer. The suspected causes are a defective cable or plug connection, though fuses have been checked and are fine. The error code is vague, suggesting a general electrical fault. A suggested solution is to inspect the wiring and heater element, but visiting a workshop is recommended for a more efficient diagnosis and repair, as it could involve issues like a corroded connector or a failing heater element.

Interesting. I have an MR2 myself. I recall encountering similar issues with the mirror heating a while back. Before diving too deep, have you checked the relevant fuses? It's a simple thing to overlook, and could save you a lot of headache. Does the error code give you any more specific information?

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I checked the fuses, they seem all right. I'm afraid that the error code isn't very specific. It just points to a general electrical fault in the circuit for the mirror heating.

Ah, that's unfortunate. If the fuses are fine and the error code is vague, it does indeed sound like a wiring issue or perhaps a failing heater element within the mirror itself. Probing the wires and inspecting the element could yield clues. However, based on my experience, and considering the cost, a visit to a trusted workshop might be worthwhile. Last time I dealt with something similar, they swiftly pinpointed a corroded connector and replaced the heater element, saving me considerable time and effort. It looks like going to the workshop might be the only thing to do.

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate you sharing your experiences. I will take it to the workshop, and based on your estimates, it shouldn't cost me much. I appreciate you helping me.
