MR2 Radio Bluetooth Fault

Got a weird one with my 2002 Toyota MR2, gasoline engine. Radio's throwing a fit – won't connect to my phone all of a sudden. Hooked it up to a code reader and it's showing an error in the memory. Could a simple pairing issue actually cause this?

Could be a glitch in the head unit's software. Have you tried deleting the existing pairings on both your phone and the MR2, then re-pairing from scratch? And is the error code a generic one, or specific to the audio system?

Yeah, I tried deleting the pairings already. No luck. The code seems specific, pointing towards a comm error with the entertainment system. Could a deeper electrical fault be at play here?

Comm error definitely suggests more than just a simple pairing issue. Given the age of the car and the specific error code, it's potentially a failing module or wiring. Time to visit a workshop?

Turns out it was a faulty Bluetooth module, causing all the grief. New part and a quick diagnostic set me back 45€. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
