MR2 Radio Error
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Toyota MR2 owner experiences a radio issue, with the infotainment screen displaying a generic 'Error' message and the audio system often being non-functional. The problem is suspected to be related to the antenna, possibly due to poor signal, signal amplifier issues, or a faulty antenna ground connection. Suggestions include checking the antenna ground connection and the signal amplifier, with a recommendation to have the system checked by a workshop if these do not resolve the issue. Ultimately, the problem was confirmed to be a defective antenna.

Good call on the ground connection! I'll check it thoroughly. Where is the signal amplifier located? Near the antenna base, I assume?

I think the amplifier is close to the antenna. Given the error message and code, and that the antenna isn't visibly damaged, I'd get it checked by a workshop. I spent too much time troubleshooting mine.

Confirmed my suspicions! Thanks for the insight; I'll book it in. Diagnosis and repair cost me around 255€; the antenna was defective!

I had similar issues in my MR2. Check the antenna ground connection first; it's a known weak spot. If that's good, check the signal amplifier, a common culprit. Any corrosion when you checked the ground?
