MR2 Radio Error

My 2000 Toyota MR2 (gasoline engine) with 60444 km has a radio issue. The infotainment screen shows a generic 'Error' message, and often the audio system is dead. The OBD2 reader shows an error code related to the radio. I suspect the antenna. Anyone else had FM signal, poor signal, signal amplifier, or antenna ground issues on their MR2?

I had similar issues in my MR2. Check the antenna ground connection first; it's a known weak spot. If that's good, check the signal amplifier, a common culprit. Any corrosion when you checked the ground?

Good call on the ground connection! I'll check it thoroughly. Where is the signal amplifier located? Near the antenna base, I assume?

I think the amplifier is close to the antenna. Given the error message and code, and that the antenna isn't visibly damaged, I'd get it checked by a workshop. I spent too much time troubleshooting mine.

Confirmed my suspicions! Thanks for the insight; I'll book it in. Diagnosis and repair cost me around 255€; the antenna was defective!
