Multifunction steering wheel issue

My Mercedes A Klasse with gasoline engine from is giving me grief. The multifunction steering wheel is completely dead and I scanned an error related to the steering wheel. I suspect a dodgy cable connection inside the steering wheel. Has anyone experienced something similar

Summary of the thread

The multifunction steering wheel of a Mercedes A Klasse was completely non-functional, and an error code B10A215 was identified, indicating a circuit issue within the steering wheel control module. The problem was suspected to be a faulty cable connection inside the steering wheel. It was suggested to check the steering column module, including the clock spring, as potential causes. The issue was confirmed by a local shop to be a defective cable connection within the steering wheel, and it was repaired at a reasonable cost.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Before diving into cable replacements, have you checked the basics like the steering column module? It's like the central nervous system for the steering wheel controls. An electrical fault in the wiring harness that connects the steering wheel to the car's main system could be a culprit, it's more common than a fault inside the wheel. What error code are you seeing in the error memory

When you say 'steering column module', are you referring to the clock spring, that thing that allows the steering wheel to rotate while maintaining electrical connection? The error code is B10A215. Does that error code give you any additional clues

The clock spring is part of the steering column module, but the module itself is more than just the clock spring. B10A215 points to a circuit issue within the steering wheel control module itself. It's very likely there's a bad connection or a faulty component inside the steering wheel. Given the code and your symptoms, I'd recommend getting it properly diagnosed by a workshop. It's probably not something you can easily fix at home

Took it to a local shop, and you were spot on. They confirmed a defective cable connection within the steering wheel. Repair cost 95€, which is honestly less than I feared. Cheers for pointing me in the right direction
