Murano ABS Light Lateral Acceleration Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Nissan Murano hybrid experienced an ABS light activation, indicating a system failure. The error codes pointed to a lateral acceleration sensor fault. Possible causes include a defective control unit or faulty sensor. The recommended solution was to have a workshop handle the replacement due to the complexity and safety implications, which ultimately resolved the issue.

The code doesn't specify which sensor, just a general fault. Wheel alignment seems fine. If it is the control unit, is it something I can replace myself?

If the error code is general and wheel alignment isn't the problem, it's highly likely a defective control unit. Replacing it yourself can be tricky, as it often requires specific diagnostic tools for calibration and coding. Given the safety implications with ABS and traction control, it's best to have a workshop handle it. A faulty sensor can also cause electronic stability issues.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a local workshop, and you were right, it was the control unit. Cost me around 1000€, but the ABS is working again.

Hey there. A lateral acceleration sensor fault on a Murano ABS system isn't uncommon. Does the error code specify which sensor? A defective control unit could be the root cause. Have you had your wheel alignment checked recently?
