Mustang Automatic Transmission Issue

Hey, I'm having trouble with my 2014 Ford Mustang with a gasoline engine. Only has 29552 km on it, but the automatic transmission is acting up. The transmission light came on, and it's not shifting right – feels stuck in emergency mode. Could worn transmission oil and undervoltage be the cause? Any ideas before I get it serviced?

I had almost the exact same thing happen with my Mustang (automatic transmission). Slipping transmission, that awful light… sound familiar? In my case, it turned out the hydraulic fluid was breaking down early. Have you checked the fluid level and condition lately?

Thanks, I appreciate hearing that. I haven't checked the hydraulic fluid recently. Is that easy to do myself, or do I need special tools? I'm trying to avoid a big repair bill, but I don't want to mess it up either.

It's fairly straightforward to check the fluid, but honestly, given the symptoms I'd strongly recommend just taking it to a reputable workshop. Trying to diagnose a potential automatic gearbox problem yourself without proper equipment can often lead to more headaches and higher costs down the line. Better safe than sorry, especially with transmissions.

Understood and thanks for the advice. I took it to a trusted mechanic. The transmission oil was indeed worn out due to undervoltage, and it needed to be replaced. The whole repair cost me 240€. I appreciate your help!
