Mustang Boost Pressure Fault

Mustang enthusiasts, I have a vexing issue plaguing my 2015 Ford Mustang with a gasoline engine. At 64365 km, I've encountered a boost pressure control fault. The check engine light illuminates intermittently, with a reduction in engine power, poor engine response, and a surge in fuel consumption. I suspect a defect in a vacuum switching valve. Has anyone else experienced similar symptoms, perhaps related to turbo lag, pressure drop in the intake manifold, a faulty boost controller, or a failing boost solenoid?

Hey, I had a similar problem with my BMW 3 series. Check engine light, power loss, the whole shebang. Turned out to be a vacuum leak in the boost system. Have you checked all the hoses and connections for cracks or leaks? That's usually the first place to look.

Thanks! I've visually inspected the hoses, but I haven't performed a thorough pressure test. Could you elaborate on the specific vacuum leak you encountered with your BMW? Was it a particular hose or connection that was prone to failure?

It was a small crack in one of the vacuum lines going to the boost controller, almost invisible. Honestly, I'd just take it to a workshop and have them smoke test the system. Save yourself the headache.

Following the advice, I took the Mustang to a trusted workshop. A smoke test confirmed a faulty vacuum switching valve, just as I initially suspected. The repair cost, including parts and labor, came to 140€. The car is now running perfectly. Thanks a lot for the support!
