Mustang Engine Overheating
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Ford Mustang with 25,526 km mileage is experiencing engine overheating and delayed reaching of normal operating temperature. The issue could be due to a faulty temperature sensor, but further discussion suggests a malfunctioning map thermostat as the likely cause. It is recommended to have the vehicle professionally diagnosed and repaired at a workshop.

Coolant level is normal and no apparent leaks. The radiator does heat up, but only after a considerable amount of time. Does this mean a faulty map thermostat?

Indeed, based on your observations, a defective map thermostat is the most probable culprit. I concur. The symptoms you are describing are typical. While it could theoretically be something else – like a partially clogged coolant passage, like a blocked artery – the thermostat is the most common failure point. I strongly recommend you bring your vehicle to a trusted workshop to professionally diagnose and repair the issue.

Understood. I appreciate the clarification and expertise. I will schedule a visit to the workshop as suggested. Thanks again.

The symptoms you describe certainly point towards a cooling system malfunction. Is the coolant level normal? Any leaks? It sounds like your thermostat might be stuck closed, like a gatekeeper dozing on the job. Is the radiator getting hot when the engine is overheating?
