Mustang incorrect fuel composition error

I own a 2017 Ford Mustang with a gasoline engine. The check engine light comes on intermittently, and the engine stalls at idle sometimes. I scanned the car and found an error stored relating to incorrect fuel composition. I've already tried different fuel qualities, even added some fuel additives, but the problem persists. The car has 211048 km. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2017 Ford Mustang owner experiences intermittent check engine light activation and engine stalling at idle, with a diagnostic error indicating incorrect fuel composition. Despite trying different fuel qualities and additives, the issue persists. A suggestion is made to inspect the connections at the fuel composition sensor, as a faulty connection could be causing the problem. The owner plans to have the vehicle checked at a workshop, focusing on the sensor and its connections, which successfully resolves the issue.

Hey there! I had a similar experience with my Mustang. Incorrect fuel composition error, huh? Sounds familiar. Did you check the cable and plug connections? Could be a dodgy connection somewhere in the system causing the sensor to wig out. What's the fuel economy like? Any noticeable change there?

Thanks for the quick reply! You mention cable and plug connections. Are you referring to any specific component in the combustion chamber? And yes, now that you mention it, the fuel economy does seems lower than usual.

Yep, that lower fuel economy is a big clue. I had to get mine checked out at the workshop. Turned out to be a defective connection at the fuel composition sensor itself. New connector fixed it right up. Seriously, get it checked properly. It could save you money and time in the long run.

I appreciate the information. I'll take your advice and bring it to a workshop for a thorough check, focusing on the fuel composition sensor and its connections. They found exactly that and the repair cost only 95€. Thank you!
