Thanks! Could you tell me how to check the headlight switch properly? What should I look for?

Sure. Look for any cracks or broken connectors on the switch. Use a multimeter to check the continuity in each position. If it's inconsistent or nonexistent, the switch is probably bad. Given the error code and what you're seeing, a pro diagnosis is probably best to find the exact cause.

Got it. Thanks for the detailed explanation. I'll take it to a shop for a full diagnosis and repair. I was quoted 95€ for the repair, so that confirms the magnitude of the issue. Thanks again!

Have you checked the dimmer switch? A faulty one can cause that. Also, check the fuse box for blown headlight or tail light fuses. It's also worth checking the headlight switch itself for damage.
