Navara AdBlue Empty Error No Start

I have a 2016 Nissan Navara, diesel engine, with about 227925 km. I'm getting an error message saying my AdBlue tank is empty, but it is not. I also have an error stored, and now the engine won't start. Sounds like a defective output to the dosing unit perhaps? Has anyone else run into this?

Summary of the thread

A 2016 Nissan Navara owner experienced a no-start issue due to an error message indicating an empty AdBlue tank, despite it being full. The problem was suspected to be related to a defective output to the dosing unit. After refilling the tank and considering injector blockages, it was advised to seek professional diagnosis. The issue was resolved by replacing a defective AdBlue pump at a workshop.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds like a pain. If the AdBlue system thinks it's empty, it can definitely cause a no-start situation. The engine control unit (ECU) is programmed to prevent starting to avoid emissions issues. Have you tried just refilling the AdBlue tank to see if that clears the errors and allows it to start? Also, have you checked the AdBlue injector for blockages? It is unlikely, but it's a simple check. Keep us posted.

Yeah, I did refill it, made no difference. Still getting the same error and no start. How would I go about checking the injector? Is that something I can do myself without special tools?

Okay, if refilling didn't work, it's likely not just a simple empty tank issue, as you suspected. The injector is kinda tricky to get to without proper tools, so probably best not to mess with it without experience. Given the symptoms, a defective AdBlue output from the tank to the dosing unit seems like a reasonable guess. Honestly, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed. They can check the pump, lines, and the injector itself.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to the shop like you suggested. Turns out the AdBlue pump was indeed defective. Cost me around 250€ to get it sorted. All good now.
