Navara oil pressure warning lamp

I'm having a concerning issue with my 2022 Nissan Navara diesel. It's only done 24533 km, but the oil pressure warning lamp keeps lighting up. I'm also hearing some pretty loud mechanical noises coming from the engine. Could it be a faulty sensor, or is something more serious going on? I've checked for any obvious oil leakage, but haven't spotted anything. I made an oil change 3000km ago, and the level on the dipstick is correct. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I had a similar problem with my Navara. I'm not sure if the engine is the same, but the symptoms were identical. The oil pressure light would flicker, especially when the engine was warm, and there was a noticeable knocking sound. Did you check the oil pressure gauge? Have you tried connecting an external oil pressure sensor?

Thanks for the quick reply! I don't have an oil pressure gauge fitted, unfortunately. Regarding the sensor, I haven't connected an external one. Where did you connect it and what readings did you get? Was it difficult?

I connected the external sensor to where the original oil pressure sensor was located. The readings were significantly lower than what they should have been, confirming the low oil pressure. Given the symptoms and the mileage, it strongly suggests a defect in the oil pump. I'd strongly recommend taking it to a trusted mechanic to get it properly diagnosed and fixed. Continuing to drive it with low oil pressure could cause catastrophic engine damage.

Thanks a lot for your help! I'll definitely take it to a workshop. It turned out that the oil pump was defective. The repair cost was 755€. Hopefully, this will solve the problem.
