Navigation and audio system failure in the 2008 Ford CrownVictoria: Possible antenna fault
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Ford CrownVictoria owner is experiencing simultaneous failures in the navigation and audio systems, suspecting a faulty aerial as the cause. Another individual with a similar issue in a different Ford model suggests that the problem might instead lie with the telecommunications control unit, which required replacement in their case. The suggested solution involves checking and potentially replacing this control unit, as it resolved similar issues in the other vehicle.

Hey, that's interesting about the telecommunications control unit. I've never had anything like that happen to my Ford. Maybe you could tell me how much the repair cost you? And whether any other problems arose afterwards that might be related to this repair? Thanks for the information!

Hey, the repair of the defective telecommunications control unit wasn't exactly cheap, it cost me €765. It's a real chunk of money, but hey, after that my Ford Mustang ran like clockwork again! As for the aerial for the radio reception, I suspected it before I went to the garage, but the mechanic checked it and it was fine. After the workshop visit, the problem was even fixed, so I can now listen to music in the car again. So far there have been no further problems. But if that's the fault, then you'll have to bite the bullet and spend the money. Keep your fingers crossed that it's something else!

Thanks for your helpful reply. I was hoping it would be a little less costly, but if it is, I guess I'll have to do it. I will let the mechanic know to check the telecom control unit. It's better to be safe than sorry. Hopefully I will have a better experience this time. Thanks again, I really appreciate the help!

Hi buddy! I have a 2005 Ford Mustang, and I had similar problems to yours. In my case it was the telecommunications control unit that was defective. First the sat nav didn't work, then the radio had problems too. Last time I went to the garage, they replaced that exact part. It's definitely a major fault in the system and not the aerial at all, I can assure you. They had to do quite a bit of disassembly to reach the control unit and replace it. It was a solid amount of work, but the car ran perfectly again afterwards! So, maybe have a look at the telecommunications control unit. It could be the problem. Good luck with that!
