Nemo Cylinder Pressure Fault

I'm having trouble with my 2007 Citroen Nemo diesel, around 149950 km on the clock. Fuel consumption's up, engine feels weak, and the check engine light's on. It points to cylinder pressure fluctuation. I've checked spark plugs (though it's diesel), air filter, and the intake manifold, but everything seems okay. Could this be a head gasket or piston rings issue? Or maybe the camshaft? Any ideas?

I had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane, although it was a petrol engine. Same symptoms: higher fuel consumption, loss of power, and that dreaded check engine light. The error code also pointed to some kind of cylinder issue. Have you checked for any other error codes that might be related? In my case, it turned out to be a consequential error, meaning it wasn't the primary problem but a result of something else.

A consequential error? Interesting. No, I only got the cylinder pressure fluctuation code. What was the 'something else' in your Megane? And how did you figure it out? I'm trying to avoid just throwing parts at it and hoping something sticks.

It was a pain to diagnose. In my Megane, the root cause was a faulty sensor messing with the fuel mixture. That caused the cylinder pressure to fluctuate and trigger the error. It took a while and a proper diagnostic check at a workshop to pinpoint it. I'd suggest taking your Nemo to a trusted mechanic for a thorough check. They can look at live data and see if anything else is out of whack. It could save you a lot of time and money in the long run.

I took your advice and brought it to a local mechanic. Turns out it was also a consequential error. A dodgy sensor was causing the issue, which in turn gave me the cylinder pressure fault. The mechanic replaced the sensor and cleared the fault codes. The car runs as new now and it didn't cost me a thing, because it was still covered by warranty!
