Nemo Incorrect Temperature Slow Warmup

My 2008 Citroen Nemo diesel has issues. The instrument cluster shows incorrect temperatures, the check engine light is on, and the engine warms up slowly. I suspect a restricted cooling grille. Could this be a simple fix?

Incorrect temps and a slow warm-up on a Nemo? Sounds like your engine's thermal management is having a bad time! That restricted cooling grille idea might be on the right track, especially if it's stuck closed. The ECU uses that grille to help the engine warm up faster and keep it at the right temperature, so when it's not working as it should you are likely to run into these problems. Have you checked the fuse for the radiator grille? And also, how is the coolant level doing?

I'm not familiar with automotive electrical systems. Where is the fuse for the radiator grille, and how do I check it?

Finding the fuse can be a bit of a treasure hunt. There's usually a fuse box diagram somewhere near the box itself – check your owner's manual, too. To check it, simply pull it out and see if the little wire inside is broken. But honestly, with those symptoms, it might be best to just get it looked at by a professional. I had something similar once, and a 50€ fix at the garage sorted it straight away!

I took it to a local mechanic this morning, and the fuse for the radiator grille was indeed defective. The total repair cost was 52€, including the replacement of the fuse and labor. The problem is now solved.
