Nemo start stop malfunction

My 2008 Citroen Nemo diesel (157905 km) start-stop system is acting up. Error message, random engine cut-outs, and a warning light. Suspect a heavily discharged or defective battery. Anyone seen this before? Any ideas before I take it to the shop?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane, although it wasn't a diesel. My start-stop was completely bonkers, with error messages and stalling at the worst times. Is your battery relatively new or could it be the original? That was my problem.

The battery could be the original. I haven't replaced it since I bought it. Didn't think an old battery could affect the start-stop. Did you have any other weird electrical issues alongside the start-stop failing? Like, dimming headlights?

Yeah, that sounds like your problem. I started getting other weird electrical glitches too. The central locking would sometimes refuse to work, and the dashboard lights would flicker occasionally. Honestly, just get the battery tested. Take it to a workshop if you can't test it yourself. Replacing the battery sorted everything out for me.

That's solid advice. Looks like I'm battery hunting! Will get it checked out and replaced ASAP. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. It was the original battery and it wasn't holding charge properly. New battery fitted for 290€ and all is good again!
