Nissan 350Z air intake system leak

My 2004 Nissan 350Z, gasoline engine, is experiencing a potential air intake system leak at 148499 km. Symptoms include higher fuel consumption, check engine light activation, and a distinct hissing sound upon acceleration. I suspect an intake hose issue. Thoughts?

Hey, those are classic signs of an intake leak! That hissing is probably unmetered air getting sucked in after the MAF sensor, messing with your fuel trims. Have you checked all the intake hoses, especially around the throttle body and intake manifold? A crack there will definitely cause that. Also, any recent work done near the turbocharger, if it's the boosted version?

Thank you for your response. I will inspect the areas you mentioned. This is the naturally aspirated model. If the hose is indeed cracked, is a replacement the correct course of action, or are there other factors to consider?

For sure! If you've visually confirmed a crack in the intake hose, definitely replace it. A temporary fix might work, but it's gonna fail again. Just make sure you get the right part for your Z! If the check engine light is still on after the fix, you might need to get the code cleared, or it might clear itself after a few drive cycles. Honestly, a shop with a smoke machine can pinpoint even tiny leaks super fast.

Understood. I appreciate the confirmation. The leaking intake hose was indeed the issue. Replacement was performed, and the symptoms have resolved. Total repair cost: 100€.
