Nissan 350Z Ignition Terminal Interruption

I'm having trouble with my 2009 Nissan 350Z with a gasoline engine. The error memory says terminal 15 ignition positive is interrupted, and the engine won't start. The car has 103020 km on it. I think it might be a bad cable or plug connection. I checked the battery terminal, and it seems okay. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2009 Nissan 350Z is experiencing an ignition issue, with an error indicating an interruption in terminal 15 ignition positive, preventing the engine from starting. The suspected cause is a bad cable or plug connection. Suggestions include checking the wiring harness around the starter solenoid and relay switch for frayed or damaged wires, as these can cause short circuits. Ultimately, the problem was identified as a defective cable connection, which was repaired for 95€.

Oh, that sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old BMW 3 Series a few years back. Exact same symptoms: engine wouldn't crank, and some weird electrical error kept popping up. Have you checked the wiring harness around the starter solenoid and the relay switch? Those were the culprits for me. The harness had frayed, causing a short circuit. It’s a real pain, but worth a look before you go too deep.

Thank you for your suggestion. Could you tell me more about how you located the frayed wiring harness? Was it visibly damaged, or did you use a multimeter to identify the short circuit?

Okay, so with my BMW, the harness was pretty obviously melted in one spot when I finally found it. I could smell something burning near the starter, which gave it away. Before that, I was just poking around with a multimeter, testing for continuity. Honestly, if you're not super comfortable with electrical stuff, I’d suggest taking it to a workshop. It can save you a lot of headache and potential further damage. Better safe than sorry, right?

I appreciate your advice. After the diagnostic, the issue was indeed a defective cable connection, and it cost 95€ to repair. Your suggestion to consider the wiring harness and potential shorts helped guide the troubleshooting process.
