Nissan 350Z Jerking Acceleration Hissing Noise

My 2004 Nissan 350Z with a gasoline engine is acting up. The check engine light is on. I've noticed jerking when accelerating, with a whistling noise, especially at higher speeds. There's also a loud hissing when I accelerate, and sometimes the engine stalls when idling. Fuel consumption has increased, and the engine doesn't have the same power. I suspect the boost pressure sensor. The cable and plug connection looks worn. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2004 Nissan 350Z was experiencing jerking acceleration, a whistling noise, and increased fuel consumption, with the check engine light on. The suspected cause was a faulty boost pressure sensor connection. A suggestion was made to check for a boost leak, particularly around the air intake and intake manifold for loose connections or damaged hoses. The issue was confirmed to be a defective plug connection to the boost pressure sensor, which was repaired, resolving the problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds like a boost leak. I had similar symptoms on my 350Z. Check the air intake and around the intake manifold for any loose connections or damaged hoses. Could be a faulty sensor too, but those connections are the usual suspect.

When you say 'air intake,' are you referring to the entire system from the air filter to the throttle body? Did your check engine light also come on? Was the hissing sound constant or only under acceleration, as is my case?

Yeah, check all the hoses and connections from the air filter box to the intake manifold. The light came on for me as well. The hissing was mostly under acceleration. If you're not confident tracking it down, take it to a workshop. Could be a simple fix, but better safe than sorry.

It turned out you were right. I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was a defective plug connection to the boost pressure sensor. Repair cost me 95€, but at least the car is running smoothly again. I really appreciate you pointing me in the right direction!
