Nissan Caravan exhaust back pressure sensor issue

I own a 2008 Nissan Caravan, diesel engine, with 202785 kilometers. A warning light is on, and there's excessive smoke from the exhaust when accelerating. Also, the vehicle won't perform DPF regeneration. Diagnostics suggest the exhaust back pressure sensor. Has anyone seen this?

Hey! I have a Caravan too. I had a similar problem with smoke and the light, and it was the exhaust back pressure sensor. It's like a traffic cop for your exhaust, and when it goes bad, things get backed up.

Could you elaborate on the symptoms you experienced, and what you did to resolve the problem? I'm trying to get as much info as possible before repairs.

Sure. Besides the smoke and the light, the engine felt sluggish. I just took it to a workshop. Sometimes it's better to let the pros handle it, especially with emissions stuff. They confirmed it was the sensor and swapped it.

I took my vehicle to a workshop today, and they confirmed the exhaust back pressure sensor was defective. The total cost for the replacement was 245€. Thanks for your insights; they were helpful.
