Nissan Crew Diesel Preheating Lamp Stays On
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Nissan Crew diesel is experiencing an issue where the preheating lamp on the dashboard remains on, accompanied by an error code. This problem is likely due to a defective glow plug, which can disrupt the preheating system's function. The suggested solution is to have the vehicle professionally diagnosed and potentially replace the faulty glow plug to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply! Did you experience the same issues – the light constantly on and an error code? And did replacing the glow plug solve everything?

Yes, that's exactly what happened. The defective glow plug was confirmed by the workshop. I would suggest taking it to a professional to have it diagnosed and repaired. If it is in fact the glow plug as suspected, the repair bill should be in the neighborhood of 440€.

Appreciate the confirmation and advice. I'll take it to my local shop and have them check the glow plugs. Sounds like that's the most likely culprit. Thanks again!

I have a Crew as well. Those symptoms point to a faulty glow plug. The preheating system in these vehicles is sensitive. When a glow plug fails, it disrupts the system's ability to properly assess engine combustion, leading to the light staying on and an error code being logged.
