Nissan Crew DPF failure
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Nissan Crew diesel is experiencing reduced engine power and smoke during acceleration, with diagnostics indicating a defective diesel particulate filter (DPF). Despite attempting a forced regeneration cycle, the issue persists. Possible causes include a faulty sensor or the need for DPF cleaning. Given the vehicle's mileage and a 15% drop in fuel efficiency, a workshop assessment is recommended to determine if cleaning or replacement is necessary.

Yes, fuel efficiency has declined, approximately 15%. If backpressure is elevated, does this indicate irreparable damage to the DPF, or could cleaning still prove effective?

Fuel efficiency drop seals it. Cleaning might work, but with that mileage, a replacement is likely needed. A workshop should confirm the state and advise.

Thanks. I will consult a qualified workshop for a comprehensive assessment and proceed with repairs. I suspect the repair cost will be around 1550€.

Reduced engine power and smoke point towards DPF issues. Backpressure readings would confirm it. Has fuel efficiency dropped as well?
