Nissan Crew incorrect vehicle coding

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2007 Nissan Crew, diesel engine. I'm getting a fault code, and the error is stored. I'm also getting an error message in both the infotainment system and the speedometer. My diagnostic scanner is pointing towards an incorrect vehicle coding. Has anyone run into something similar?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old BMW 3 series, though the symptoms weren't exactly the same. Mine was throwing a code and going into limp mode. Incorrect coding can be a real pain. Did you try resetting the codes with your diagnostic scanner? Also, have you checked all the connections to the ECU? Sometimes a loose connection can cause weird issues like this. It’s like a loose wire on a Christmas tree – one faulty bulb can mess up the whole string!

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I did try resetting the codes, but the error comes back almost immediately. I'll double-check the ECU connections, but I'm not super confident that's the issue. When you say 'similar issue,' was the incorrect coding the problem with your BMW too?

Yep, turns out the coding was the culprit. It was like trying to run a modern app on an ancient computer – just incompatible. I took it to a workshop in the end. They reflashed the ECU with the correct software. Given that you've already tried resetting the codes, and they keep reappearing, I reckon you might be facing the same thing. Probably best to bite the bullet and get it checked out professionally to avoid further headaches. Think of it as preventative medicine for your Crew!

Thanks so much for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were right, it was a coding issue. They recoded the vehicle, and everything is working perfectly now. The repair cost me 360€. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
