Thanks! Which fuse should I be looking at? Where is the actuator located? Is it easy to get to? I'm a novice when it comes to car electronics, so any pointers would be appreciated!

Without knowing the specific error code from your OBD reader, it's hard to pinpoint which fuse. Messing with the actuator without proper diagnostics could cause more harm than good. Based on your description, I would strongly recommend taking it to a qualified workshop. It sounds like an electrical malfunction, and they will be able to diagnose it properly and avoid you causing more problems.

Thanks for the advice. I was hoping to avoid a workshop bill, but you're right, I don't want to make things worse! I took it to the shop and it was a defective plug connection. They fixed it for 95€!

That sounds frustrating! I've got a Dayz too, and while I haven't had that exact cruise control problem, I did have a weird electronics issue a while back. Have you checked the fuse box? Sometimes a blown fuse can cause seemingly unrelated problems. Also, have you looked at the actuator?
