Nissan Frontier Engine Power Loss

Experiencing a reduction in engine power with my 2012 Nissan Frontier gasoline engine. Diagnostics show an error in the error memory. Could faulty chip tuning be the cause? It has 163756 km on it.

That sounds frustrating! I drive a Frontier as well, though not the same year, and I had almost the exact same symptoms a while back. The dashboard light came on, and the car computer was throwing all sorts of fits. Did you recently have any work done or modifications installed? What does the auto scanner say specifically? Knowing the exact fault code would be helpful.

I am not sure about prior modifications. The error code indicates a problem related to the engine control unit, suggesting potential tampering. My main concern is whether this issue is related to the chip tuning.

Okay, that's the same problem I encountered. It definitely sounds like it could be related. While I'm not an expert, in my case, it turned out to be a botched tuning job from a previous owner. My advice is to take it to a reputable workshop. They'll be able to diagnose the root cause properly and advise you on the best course of action.

I appreciate the insight. I followed your advice and visited a specialized workshop today. The issue was, in fact, related to faulty chip tuning from a previous owner. The repair cost was 180€. Thank you for sharing your experience; it helped me address the problem efficiently.
