Nissan GTR boost issues

I'm having some serious issues with my 2017 Nissan GTR, gasoline engine. I think it's something with the boost, but I'm not really sure. The check engine light is on, and the car feels like it has way less power than it should. It's also super sluggish when I try to accelerate, and sometimes it even stalls when I'm just sitting at a light. Plus, my gas mileage has gone way down. I've also noticed a whistling noise, and a loud hissing sound when I accelerate. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2017 Nissan GTR is experiencing boost issues, indicated by a check engine light, reduced power, sluggish acceleration, stalling, poor gas mileage, and unusual noises. These symptoms suggest a potential defect in the wastegate valve, part of the turbocharger assembly. It's recommended to inspect the boost control system, including the wastegate, pressure sensor, and throttle body, but professional diagnostics are advised due to the complexity. Replacing the defective wastegate valve resolved the issues, restoring the car's performance.

I experienced a similar issue with my GTR. Have you inspected the wastegate valve? The symptoms you describe—specifically the reduced engine power, whistling, hissing, and poor engine response—are indicative of a potential defect in the wastegate. Prior to further diagnostics, I recommend examining the integrity of the boost control system, including a thorough inspection of the pressure sensor and throttle body. A faulty MAP sensor could also contribute to these anomalies.

Thanks for the quick reply! Where exactly is the wastegate located, and is it something I can check myself without special tools? Also, what should I be looking for when I inspect it?

The wastegate is integral to the turbocharger assembly. While a visual inspection is feasible, diagnosing internal failures typically requires specialized diagnostic equipment. Given the complexity of the boost control system and the potential for consequential damage, I would advise seeking professional diagnostic services. Continuing to operate the vehicle with a compromised wastegate could lead to further complications. In my case the defective wastegate valve was causing all the issues. I took my car to a reputable workshop and the issue was resolved after replacing the valve.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I really appreciate it. I'll take it to a shop to get it checked out. They found a defect in the wastegate valve and replaced it. The repair cost me 860€, but at least the car runs like new again!
