Nissan Kix start stop issue
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Nissan Kix with a gasoline engine developed a start-stop issue at 196,144 km, where the engine would shut off but not restart automatically, accompanied by an error and warning light. The problem was suspected to be related to a weak or old battery, as start-stop systems require a strong battery to function properly. After testing, it was confirmed that the battery was heavily discharged and defective. Replacing the battery resolved the issue, restoring the start-stop functionality.

I'm not sure if it's the original battery, but it's at least 5 years old. Could a simple battery replacement really be the fix? Is there a way to confirm it's the battery before replacing it?

Five years is a long time for a battery, especially with start-stop systems. It's like running a marathon with a sprained ankle - it might work for a bit, but eventually, it'll give out. A workshop should be able to do a proper battery test to confirm. But based on your symptoms, a tired battery is the most likely culprit.

I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on – the battery was heavily discharged and defective. A new battery (costing 290€) solved the problem. The start-stop is now working perfectly again!

I had a similar issue with my Kix a while back. Is the battery the original one? Those start-stop systems are like divas when it comes to battery health. They need a strong, healthy battery to function correctly. How old is your battery?
