Nissan Multi Overheating

I have a 2003 Nissan Multi with a gasoline engine. Recently, I've been experiencing engine overheating and the check engine light is on. I suspect a defective radiator fan, but I am unsure how to proceed. The car has 193201 km on it. Could a defective speed sensor be the root cause?

I had a similar issue with my Nissan Multi. Overheating can be caused by a number of things in the cooling system. Have you checked the fan blade for any damage or obstructions? Sometimes a simple visual inspection can reveal a broken fan blade or something blocking airflow to the radiator. The fan motor itself could also be failing, which would prevent the fan from spinning at the correct speed to cool the engine.

Thanks for the quick response! I'll check for any visible damage to the fan blade and obstructions. But if the fan blade seems fine, how would I determine if the fan motor is failing? Is there a way to test it without special tools?

Well, without specialized tools, it's tricky to diagnose the fan motor definitively. However, if the fan is running slower than usual, making unusual noises, or not running at all when the engine is hot, those are strong indicators. Given the check engine light and potential for serious engine damage, it might be wise to visit a trusted workshop. They can properly diagnose the cooling system. I ended up having a defective speed sensor that caused it.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I'll take your suggestion and bring it to a workshop. They found that the speed sensor was defective and the repair cost was 250€. Hopefully, this resolves the overheating issue.
