Oh really? Where is that relay usually located, and is there any easy way to test it?

On the Astra it was in the engine compartment's fuse box. I'd recommend getting it properly diagnosed rather than poking around too much. Could save you a bigger headache. My workshop said the relay being faulty damaged the ECU.

You were spot on! Took it to a shop, turns out the main relay was indeed faulty and it fried the ECU. Got it replaced, cost me 120€, and the Note is back to normal. Appreciate the pointer!

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my old Opel Astra. Turned out to be a defective main relay causing ECU problems. Have you checked that?
