Nissan Note Undervoltage Error
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Nissan Note diesel with 180914 km was experiencing an undervoltage error, poor starting, failing systems, and weak, flickering lights, suggesting a potential battery issue. It was advised to check the battery terminals for corrosion or looseness and measure the battery voltage to determine if the battery or alternator was at fault. The battery was found to be heavily discharged and defective, leading to its replacement, which resolved the issues.

Good shout! I'll check the terminals. Where exactly should I measure the voltage to be sure, and what readings would indicate a problem?

Measure the voltage directly at the battery terminals with a multimeter. A healthy battery should read around 12.6V when off. When the engine is running, it should be around 13.7V to 14.7V. If it's significantly lower, especially when running, the alternator might not be charging properly. Consider getting a professional diagnosis. It's like asking a doctor for a second opinion when you're not sure about a diagnosis.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on – the battery was heavily discharged and defective. I had it replaced for 290€, and now everything's working perfectly!

I had something similar happen on my Note. Have you checked the battery terminals for corrosion or looseness? Also, what's the battery voltage reading when the engine is off and when it's running? It could be a simple fix, or it might point to an alternator issue. It's like checking if the power outlet is working before blaming the appliance.
