Nissan NV Fault Memory Lock Active
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Nissan NV displayed a 'Fault memory lock active' error, indicating an issue stored in the error memory. This problem is often linked to an undervoltage situation, where the car's ECU detects a voltage drop and locks the fault memory to prevent damage. The suggested solution involves checking the battery's health and possibly using a diagnostic tool to read and clear fault codes. Ultimately, a professional assessment is recommended to identify and fix the underlying cause, which in this case was a module draining the battery.

Undervoltage, huh? So, you're saying the battery might be the culprit? Is there any way to check this myself, or should I just take it straight to a mechanic?

While you can check the battery voltage with a multimeter, the 'Fault memory lock' often requires a diagnostic tool to properly read and clear the fault codes from the ECU. Also, undervoltage does not always mean the battery. It could be caused by a defective component in the car electronics. To prevent further issues and potentially more costly repairs, I'd recommend visiting a workshop for a professional assessment.

Thanks so much for the advice! I took it to a local shop, and you were spot on. Turns out, a module was draining the battery and causing the undervoltage. They fixed the module and cleared the fault codes. Cost me 240€, but at least it's sorted!

I also have a Nissan NV, and I experienced something similar a while back. The 'Fault memory lock active' message usually points to an undervoltage issue. Basically, the car's computer (the ECU) detected a voltage drop and locked the fault memory to prevent further damage. Have you checked your battery's health recently?
