Nissan Patrol Intermittent Starting Issue

My 2003 Nissan Patrol (gasoline engine) sometimes won't start. Other times it starts then shuts off pretty quickly, or runs really rough before stalling. Any thoughts? It's only got 55051 km on the clock. I checked for the usual suspects, but wasn't able to get anywhere.

Summary of the thread

A 2003 Nissan Patrol with a gasoline engine was experiencing intermittent starting issues, including failure to start, stalling, and rough running. The problem was suspected to be related to the ignition system, possibly due to a defective fuse. After checking the vehicle, a blown ignition fuse was identified and replaced, resolving the issue.

An intermittent starting issue with a gasoline-powered 2003 Nissan Patrol can stem from various sources. Given the symptoms described – no start, stalling, and rough running – it's important to proceed methodically. Have you inspected the fuses related to the ignition system? A defective fuse could cause these symptoms. However, there are several other components. Could you describe with better particularity how the starter motor sounds upon key actuation?

When you say 'key actuation sound,' are you asking if the starter is engaging and turning the engine over, or if it's just clicking?

I am indeed interested in discerning whether the starter motor is engaging and attempting to turn the engine over – that is, whether the pinion gear is extending and meshing with the flywheel ring gear – or if it is simply clicking or making no sound at all. In either case, given that the issue is intermittent and affects multiple aspects of engine operation, it would seem prudent to have it diagnosed by a qualified technician, as troubleshooting can be intricate.

Thanks for your help! I checked it over again after your comments and found a blown fuse relating to the ignition. Replaced it and it seems to have sorted it out. 52€ for the fuses. Cheers!
