Nissan Pino Camshaft Sensor Fault

My 2009 Nissan Pino (gasoline engine) with 31527 km has starting difficulties and reduced engine power. There's an error in the memory. I suspect a defective camshaft sensor, maybe a faulty cable or plug.

Summary of the thread

A 2009 Nissan Pino with 31,527 km is experiencing starting difficulties and reduced engine power, suspected to be due to a defective camshaft sensor, faulty cable, or plug. The error code indicates a fault within the camshaft sensor circuit. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by checking the wiring and cleaning the sensor's connector contacts to prevent corrosion. It is advised to have a professional inspect the camshaft sensor, wiring, and connections to avoid further complications.

Rough idling and misfires can be tricky. Has the crankshaft sensor been checked? I had a similar issue with my old Opel Corsa; turned out the camshaft sensor's connector was corroded. A faulty camshaft sensor could cause poor engine performance because the car's computer won't know the exact position of the camshaft. Was the error code specified?

The error code specifies a fault within the camshaft sensor circuit. Could you elaborate on the symptoms you experienced with your Opel Corsa and how they align with the suspected connection issue?

Okay, mine was stalling sometimes, especially when the engine was cold. The mechanic checked the wiring, cleaned the contacts on the connector with some electrical contact cleaner (which protects from corrosion), and the problem went away. I'd suggest having a professional check it; might save you a bigger headache. A diagnostic tool can read the sensor data and that might help narrow it down. Best to get it to the workshop.

I appreciate your advice. I will bring the vehicle to a workshop for a thorough inspection of the camshaft sensor, its wiring, and the associated connections. Your experience has been most helpful. The repair cost was 95€.
