Nissan Winner AC Failure
Summary of the thread
The AC in a 2000 Nissan Winner diesel stopped working, displaying an error code, no cooling, and a warning light. The initial suspicion was the AC control unit. A suggestion was made to check for a refrigerant leak, as a slow leak could cause similar symptoms without obvious signs like hissing. It was advised to have the system checked by a professional to confirm the issue before proceeding with an expensive repair.

Good point about the refrigerant leak. I haven't checked yet. But wouldn't a leak usually present with hissing or visible residue? Or could a slow leak cause these electrical symptoms without those?

Well, on mine, it was a slow leak. No obvious hissing. The system gradually stopped cooling and eventually threw a code. Refrigerant leaks can be tricky. If you suspect the AC unit, it might be better to take it to a workshop.

Thanks! I'll take it to a trusted shop. Knowing someone else had a similar experience makes me feel more confident. I'll post what I find out.

Interesting. I drive a Winner too. Sounds familiar. Did you check for a refrigerant leak first? A slow leak can cause the compressor to fail and trigger similar symptoms.
