Nissan Winner Diesel Manifold Pressure Sensor Issue

My 2002 Nissan Winner diesel is acting up at 140783 km. Check engine light, reduced power, poor response, and higher fuel consumption. I suspect the manifold pressure sensor, but could there be more to it?

Summary of the thread

A 2002 Nissan Winner diesel exhibited issues such as a check engine light, reduced power, poor response, and increased fuel consumption, leading to suspicion of a manifold pressure sensor problem. A suggestion was made to check for a vacuum leak, particularly around the intake manifold hoses, as this is a common issue. Upon inspection at a workshop, a large vacuum leak due to a faulty manifold pressure sensor was confirmed and repaired.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had similar symptoms with my Winner. Could be a large vacuum leak somewhere. Have you checked all the hoses and connections around the manifold? Seems to be a common issue.

Vacuum leak? Where should I start looking? Any particular hoses or areas that are more prone to failure on these engines?

In my case, it was the hose connecting to the intake manifold. It’s a pain to diagnose without proper tools. A garage with a smoke tester will find it quickly. Probably the best bet.

Appreciate the insight. Took it to a workshop, and you were spot on. Large vacuum leak due to a faulty manifold pressure sensor. Repair cost me 235€ Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
