Novo automatic transmission issues
Summary of the thread
A Fiat Novo owner is experiencing automatic transmission issues, including slipping gears, unclean shifts, and grinding noises, with warning lights activated at 95152 km. The symptoms and stored error code suggest a defective torque converter lock-up clutch as the likely cause. A workshop confirmed this diagnosis, and the owner plans to proceed with the necessary repairs.

The shifts are most noticeable between 2nd and 3rd. Engine surge has been subtle, almost unnoticeable. But is a defective automatic transmission converter the only thing it could be?

It's difficult to say definitively without further diagnostics, but a defective torque converter is the most probable cause given the symptoms and the stored error code. It’s affecting specific gears and possibly causing that subtle engine surge. Other potential causes exist, but are less likely to align with your car's behavior. Are you taking it to a reputable workshop next?

That is the plan. The workshop confirmed the diagnosis: defective automatic transmission converter. Repair cost is estimated at 2120€. Thank you for confirming my suspicions.

That certainly sounds like a torque converter issue, especially with those symptoms on a 2015 Novo. The grinding noises are particularly concerning. Are the shifts rough in all gears, or just some? And does the engine surge or hesitate at all when this happens?
