Thank you for your response. I have not observed any significant changes in fuel economy. Could you elaborate on the symptoms you experienced with your Fiat, and how the air-fuel ratio sensor failure was diagnosed and resolved? It would be helpful to understand any parallels with my current NOx sensor issue.

Okay, so with the Fiat, it was like this: the engine was sputtering, and the check engine light was flashing like a disco. Took it to a mechanic, and they plugged it in and the error code pointed to the air-fuel ratio sensor. I'm no mechanic, but it sounds like your NOx sensor thing is similar to the sensor failure I had. I'd suggest getting it checked at a workshop. They will figure this out quickly.

I appreciate your input and recounting your experience with the Fiat. Acting on your suggestion, I took the Mercedes to a certified workshop. They confirmed the defective cable connection to the NOx sensor, as suspected. The repair cost was 95€.

Whoa, check engine lights are never fun! I had a similar thing happen with my old Fiat a while back. Also a sensor failure, but it was the air-fuel ratio one. Car started acting all weird, like a grumpy toddler throwing a tantrum. Is your fuel economy all messed up too? Maybe it's the same kinda gremlin messing with your Mercedes.
