NV Exhaust Flap Issue

Hi, I have a 2012 Nissan NV with a gasoline engine. I'm getting an error stored in the error memory, the exhaust noise is louder than usual, and the engine runs noisy after a cold start. Could this be related to a defective exhaust flap?

I had a similar issue on my NV. Louder exhaust and a weird noise on startup. Have you checked the exhaust system for any visible damage or blockages? It could also be the flap motor itself. Does the noise go away after the engine warms up?

I haven't spotted any obvious damage. Where exactly is the flap motor located? And yes, the noise does lessen a bit when the engine warms up.

The flap motor is usually attached directly to the exhaust system, somewhere near the rear axle. Given your symptoms, and the fact that the noise gets better when warm, it's likely the exhaust flap is defective. I'd advise getting it checked at a workshop; could prevent bigger problems down the line.

Thanks for the advice. It turned out to be a defective exhaust flap. Repair cost was 190€.
