Oil lamp lights up and warning light flashes on a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria: Problems and solutions

Hi guys, I have noticed a strange problem with my 2008 Ford Crown Victoria gasoline engine. The oil light suddenly comes on and the warning light in the speedometer flashes. I think it could be due to the engine oil pressure switch being faulty. Have any of you had similar experiences? How did you get the problem solved at the garage and what were your experiences? I am looking for specific tips to help me narrow down the problem. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2006 Ford Mustang. It's probably because the wrong engine oil was in the engine. I'm not an expert on cars, but I do have some experience with my own car. I just went to my garage and they fixed it for me. It cost me 175 euros though. I suggest you take it to the mechanic as well and have them check it out. To help you better, could you please give me some more information about your car? For example, what is the general condition? Are there any particular incidents that you have noticed? This will help us narrow down the problem.

Thanks for your quick reply. My Ford Crown Victoria has 101151 km on the clock so far, and on the whole it drives pretty well, I would say. Apart from the issue with the oil light, there hasn't been anything unusual. The mechanic didn't notice anything special at the last inspection either. Maybe I really should try an oil change, as you suggested. 175 euros is a price I would be prepared to pay if the problem is then solved. Thanks again for the advice!

Hi, I'm glad to hear that your car is running well on the whole. The mileage isn't really high, so I assume the problem with the oil pressure switch crept in quite early. It was the same with my Mustang, so it seems to be a common problem with these models. I think you're doing the right thing by considering an oil change. In the best case scenario, that will solve the problem. If not, I would recommend you consider replacing the oil pressure switch. In my case, the repair, including labor, cost around 175 euros, but of course this can vary from garage to garage. But it's best to go to a good garage and have it checked. They will certainly be able to help you. Then let me know what they come up with. I hope this helps you a little! Good luck!

Thanks for the detailed advice. I now have a better overview of what I need to do. I will go to the garage first thing tomorrow and discuss the problem with them. I really hope that a simple oil change will solve the problem - I don't want to spend any more money than necessary. I'll keep you posted on how it turns out. Thanks again for your help!
