Opel Adam (2012) no longer starts: Possible causes and experiences with mechanics

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Car won't start

Engine shuts off by itself

Hi guys, I urgently need your help! My trusty Opel Adam (petrol, built in 2012, with 124943 km on the clock) has been acting up recently. It just won't start, the engine suddenly cuts out and then this warning light comes on in the speedometer. Ultimately, I suspect a problem with the water sensor. Have you had similar experiences or can you tell me what could be wrong? And above all, what were your experiences with mechanics? I really had no luck last time and don't want to throw so much money out of the window again... Thanks for your advice!

Hello, I know the problem well, I had similar symptoms with my Opel Corsa, built in 2015. In my case, it was the cable connection to the sensor that was defective. During the inspection, they found a corrupted connector on my temperature sensor, which messed up the entire electronics. I was really glad that it was only the cable connection and not the whole sensor. Could have been worse, could have damaged the engine. So yes, it does sound kind of serious. Remember, get it checked and repaired quickly. Good luck, buddy!

Hey, thanks for your input! Your experience sounds really helpful. Can you perhaps remember how expensive the whole thing was for you at the time? And have there been any further problems since then, or did everything run smoothly again afterwards? I'm grateful for any information!

Hey, sure, no problem! Repairing the cable connection cost me €365 at the time. That was a lot of money, but the problem has been over ever since. The malfunction of the water sensor was then fixed and I had no more problems. So, keep at it and get it repaired quickly, otherwise it will only get more expensive. Best regards and keep your chin up!

Thank you very much for your support, that helps me enormously! I will take the car to the garage as soon as possible and have the problem checked. The price you mentioned sounds reasonable given the circumstances. Hopefully everything will run smoothly again afterwards. Let's stay in touch! Take care and thanks again!
