Opel Agila 2009: Electronic faults and warning lights - looking for advice and experience

Hey guys, I have an Opel Agila, year of construction 2009, gasoline engine, which has already run 175790 km. At the moment I have problems with all the electronics. My navigation system no longer works and the warning light in the speedometer also comes on. I suspect the whole thing is due to faulty coding. Have any of you ever had similar problems? How did it go with your mechanic? I didn't have a good experience last time, so I would appreciate some advice. Thanks a lot!

Summary of the thread

An Opel Agila 2009 owner is experiencing electronic issues, including a non-functional navigation system and a warning light on the speedometer. The suspected cause is faulty coding. A similar case with an Opel Astra involved a faulty ECU, which was resolved by replacing the control unit. The suggested solution is to have the ECU checked and possibly replaced by a trusted mechanic.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey buddy, I can kind of understand your frustration. I drive a 2012 Opel Astra and had a similar problem. For me it was all about the control unit. After some bizarre incidents with the electronics, it turned out that my ECU was faulty. Apparently a part of the electronics had been destroyed and was causing these confusing symptoms. It wasn't a small problem, that's for sure. The mechanic had to replace it completely. So I would definitely recommend that you take your car to a trusted mechanic and have your ECU checked. It could be the problem. Good luck buddy!

Hey, thanks for your input! I wouldn't have guessed that it could be something with the control unit. You say your mechanic replaced it completely - do you happen to remember the cost? And, were there any further problems afterwards or did everything run smoothly again? It's really annoying, these electronics issues... Thank you!

Hey, of course I remember the costs! Replacing the control unit cost me €1000. Not exactly a penny, but what do you want to do? And to answer your second question: since I've been to the mechanic, it's been running smoothly. The problem with the incorrect coding has been fixed. There's so much going on with the electronics, you wouldn't believe it. Since then, no more annoying lights, warnings or failing devices. It seems as if everything is in perfect order. So, off to the mechanic you go! Hopefully you'll get it sorted out too. Keep your fingers crossed!

Hey, thanks for the info. 1000 € is quite a lot, but if that's the solution to my problem, then it's a must. The main thing is that I don't have to see any more annoying lights afterwards. I will now make an appointment with a trustworthy mechanic in my area. Thanks for keeping your fingers crossed for me! Wish me luck... See you soon and thanks again for your advice!
