Opel Ampera: Mysterious error memory lock and error messages - advice wanted!

Hey guys! I have a little problem with my Opel Ampera (gasoline engine, year of manufacture 2016, 79508km run) that I would like to briefly describe to you. My car displays various symptoms and keeps storing errors. I suspect it is related to the "Central fault memory lock active" message. Have any of you ever had a similar problem? If so, how did your mechanic visit go? I had a pretty bad experience last time so I'm a bit worried. Any advice would be appreciated!

(Translated from German)

Summary of the thread

An Opel Ampera owner is experiencing persistent error messages and suspects a "Central fault memory lock active" issue. A similar case with an Opel Zafira involved sporadic faulty communication between electronic control units (ECUs), which was resolved through a comprehensive diagnostic test, software update, and ECU recalibration. The solution, though costly, resulted in the car running smoothly without further issues. Seeking advice, the owner is encouraged by the successful resolution of a similar problem and plans to consult a mechanic.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hi, I had similar problems with my 2013 Opel Zafira Tourer, the symptoms were almost identical, the car kept displaying and storing errors and the communication between the different ECUs would sporadically stall. At the garage they told me it was a problem between the electronic control units in my car. Apparently there was sporadic faulty communication between them. They had to run a comprehensive diagnostic test to determine the exact cause of the problem. In the end, they had to update the software and recalibrate some of the ECUs. It was definitely a more serious fault, but luckily the technical team were able to solve it. It wasn't an easy or quick fix, but afterwards the car was running perfectly again. Hope this helps you. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for the answer! That sounds like a good start. Do you happen to remember how expensive the whole thing was for you? And were there any other problems afterwards or has everything been running smoothly since then?

Hey, no problem! It was quite a lot of money for me, €955 to be precise. But I can tell you that it was worth it. Since the mechanic fixed the "central error memory lock active", my old Zafira has been running like clockwork. No further problems have occurred. The money was a bitter pill to swallow, especially because the whole thing was called "Sporadic faulty communication between control units", but it was worth it. It's just a shame that such repairs aren't exactly cheap. But hey, better than a car that keeps spitting out errors, right? Hope it works out as well for you. Good luck, buddy!

Hey, thanks for the info! Even if the sum makes you gulp at first, I'm glad to hear that at least you didn't have any more problems afterwards. So I probably won't put off going to the mechanic for much longer. Your experience at least gives me some reassurance and gives me hope that it will work for me too. Thanks again for your help and patient advice! Make a wish!
