Opel Astra: Error message despite inspection

Hello everyone, I own a 2016 Opel Astra with a diesel engine and 160,000 km mileage. For the past few days, the check engine light (MIL) has been illuminated, and the message "Vehicle requires service soon" appears. This message appeared even though the vehicle had its inspection last week. When I called the Opel dealer, I was told that the vehicle needs an inspection, which I doubt. A diagnosis with Carly revealed a defect in the glow plug of the 2nd cylinder, which explains the error message when starting the cold engine. Has anyone had similar experiences or can tell me if there are other possible causes for this error message? Best regards, Kai.

It's good that you've identified a potential issue with the glow plug in the 2nd cylinder. A faulty glow plug can indeed trigger the check engine light and cause starting issues, especially in cold conditions. I recommend starting by replacing the faulty glow plug, as it's a relatively simple and cost-effective fix. After replacement, clear the error codes and see if the issue persists. If the light remains on or you experience further issues, it might be worth checking the glow plug control module or wiring. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!
