It's no bargain, of course, but since then the problem with the boost pressure system has been fixed and I've had no more particular worries about it. An important point, however, is that you find a good mechanic who won't take money out of your pocket. So before you decide on anything, get a few quotes. Hey buddy! I had the same problem with my Opel Insignia from 2010. Could really be mechanical damage to the turbocharger, as you suspect. My mechanic inspected the turbocharger and the diagnosis was exactly that. It was actually a pretty serious issue. The hissing and whistling noises you describe are probably coming from the broken turbocharger. The black clouds of smoke and the loss of power are also typical. And the jerking? Probably the result of unburned fuel. We eventually had to replace the turbocharger. It was a tricky job, but afterwards my Insignia ran like a dream again. Hope that helps you!
