Optra Active Hood Fault

I've got a 2022 Chevrolet Optra with a gasoline engine and I'm experiencing a really weird issue. The on-board computer keeps flashing "Active hood fault," and the airbag warning light is constantly on in the speedometer. I scanned for error codes, and it's definitely storing something related to the active hood. The weirdest thing is, it seems like the spring actuators for the hood have actually been triggered – like the hood popped up slightly as if it were deploying for pedestrian safety. Has anyone else run into this? My Optra has 153728 km.

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Chevrolet Optra is experiencing an "Active hood fault" message and a constant airbag warning light, with the hood slightly popped up as if the pedestrian safety system was triggered. This issue may be related to a faulty sensor, possibly an acceleration sensor, which is part of the active hood and airbag integration system. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle diagnosed and repaired by a trusted workshop due to the complexity and safety implications of the system.

I had a similar issue with my Optra a while back. The active hood fault message popped up, along with the airbag light. Did you notice any specific events that triggered it, like hitting a pothole or anything? In my case, I suspected a faulty sensor, but I wasn't sure which one. It's definitely related to the pedestrian safety system.

That's interesting! No, I haven't hit any potholes or anything like that recently. It just sort of happened out of the blue. When you say faulty sensor, do you remember which sensor it was, or how you figured it out? Was it difficult to replace?

Unfortunately, I never got to the bottom of which specific sensor was the culprit. It was beyond my capabilities to diagnose properly. Based on the error codes and symptoms, the repair shop suspected a defective acceleration sensor. Considering the complexity of the active hood system and the airbag integration, my advice would be to take it to a trusted workshop. I ended up paying around 300€ to get it sorted. It's a safety system, so it's better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks for the insight! I was hoping it would be a simple fix, but it sounds like it's more complicated than I initially thought. I'll take it to a workshop and have them diagnose the acceleration sensor. I really appreciate you sharing your experience!
