Optra Coolant Loss

My 2023 Chevy Optra with a gasoline engine is giving me fits. The coolant level keeps dropping like crazy. The check engine light is on and the error memory is storing errors. I'm pretty sure it's just the low coolant, but what gives? Anyone else seen this?

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Chevy Optra owner experienced significant coolant loss, triggering the check engine light and storing errors. Potential causes discussed included leaks in radiator hoses, malfunctioning cooling fans, or coolant mixing with oil, which could indicate a head gasket issue. Upon inspection, the problem was identified as a leaky hose clamp and a cracked hose, which were repaired, resolving the coolant loss issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had a similar coolant issue with my Optra. Have you checked all the radiator hoses for leaks? Also, what about the cooling fan – is it kicking on when the engine starts to get warm? And most importantly, are you seeing any signs of coolant mixing with the oil? That could point to a bigger problem, like a head gasket issue.

Thanks for the tips! I'll check the hoses again. The fan seems to be working, but I'll keep an eye on it. How would I know if coolant is mixing with the oil? What would I look for?

Alright, to check for coolant in the oil, take a peek at your dipstick. If the oil looks milky or has a brownish, foamy texture, that's a telltale sign that coolant is mixing in. Also, check the underside of your oil filler cap. The same milky residue there is another bad sign. If you see any of that, don't drive it. Get it to a workshop ASAP. That could mean a blown head gasket, and that's not something you want to mess with. If it's not that, it could be a small leak somewhere that's hard to find, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Especially with these engines.

You were right, the coolant loss was concerning! Took it to the shop, and it was a leaky hose clamp and a cracked hose, they repaired it for 52€ Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
