Optra NOx Sensor and Exhaust Leak
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers around a 2020 Chevrolet Optra with a check engine light indicating a NOx sensor failure and an observed exhaust leak. The potential causes discussed include a defective cable or plug connection and the exhaust leak affecting sensor readings. The suggested solution is to take the car to a workshop for professional diagnosis and repair, as attempting to fix it without expertise might cause further damage.

Thanks for the reply. The car seems to drive normally. Should I take it directly to the workshop, or is there a way to check the connections myself?

Given the exhaust leak and the sensor issue, and considering that you are not a car expert, I would recommend taking it to a workshop. You could try to check the cable and plug connections, but without proper tools or experience, you might cause more damage. Plus, the exhaust leak needs to be addressed anyway, and they'll be able to diagnose the sensor properly. My repair ended up being around 95€. Just my two cents.

I had a similar problem with my Optra. The check engine light is incredibly annoying, isn't it? Nitrogen oxides (NOx) are generated during combustion, especially at high temperatures, and the NOx sensor is part of the exhaust system, specifically designed to monitor these emissions. If you have an exhaust leak, that might be messing with the readings and causing the sensor to throw an error. Does the car seem to be running differently or consuming more fuel?
