Orlando battery draining

My 2013 Chevrolet Orlando with a gasoline engine is giving me fits. The battery keeps draining like crazy. I'm getting error messages in the speedometer, the lights are weak and flickering, and there's some error stored. Now, the car barely starts! I checked the battery terminals and they seem ok, I even tried charging the car battery, but it didn't help. Could this be the end of the road for my battery?

Summary of the thread

The 2013 Chevrolet Orlando is experiencing battery drainage issues, with symptoms including error messages, weak and flickering lights, and difficulty starting. The problem may be caused by a defective battery sensor, which can send incorrect information to the car's computer, leading to a discharged battery. The suggested solution is to have the battery sensor checked and potentially replaced by a mechanic, which has been confirmed as the issue and quoted at approximately 315€.

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had almost the same thing happen with my Orlando. Seriously frustrating! Have you checked the battery sensor by any chance? That little bugger can cause all sorts of havoc when it goes bad.

Battery sensor, eh? Interesting! Where exactly is that located, and what kind of havoc are we talking about? I'm trying to avoid a huge bill here, so any pointers would be amazing!

Yep, battery sensor. On mine, it was connected directly to the negative terminal of the battery. When it went kaput, it was sending all kinds of wrong info to the car's computer, leading to a discharged battery. Honestly, if you're seeing all those symptoms, I'd say get it checked out by a mechanic. It cost me around 315€ to get it sorted, but it was worth it to stop the headache.

Thanks a million for the tip! Took it to the shop, and you nailed it – defective battery sensor! Quoted 315€, which sounds about right. At least I know what the problem is now. Really appreciate the help!
