Orlando Clutch Pedal Switch Issue

Hi, I'm having a strange issue with my 2016 Chevrolet Orlando (gasoline engine) with 118635 km on the clock. I'm getting an error stored in the error memory, the gear selection display on the speedometer isn't working, cruise control is dead, and sometimes the engine just won't start. I'm suspecting a bad clutch pedal switch. Has anyone else experienced something similar? I checked the wiring and plugs, but everything looks fine. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

The issue with the 2016 Chevrolet Orlando involved a malfunctioning gear selection display, non-functional cruise control, and intermittent starting problems. These symptoms were suspected to be caused by a faulty clutch pedal switch. A similar experience suggested that such electrical issues could stem from a bad switch, and a diagnostic scan was recommended. Ultimately, the problem was resolved by replacing defective wiring to the clutch pedal switch, restoring normal functionality.

I had a similar issue with my Orlando. It sounds like a faulty clutch pedal switch. When that switch goes bad, it can cause all sorts of weird electrical problems, like a domino effect. It might be worth checking the switch itself with a multimeter, or even better, get a diagnostic scan to confirm.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you say similar, do you mean all the same symptoms? The gear selection display and the engine not starting are really throwing me off. And where exactly is the clutch pedal switch located? Is it easy to access?

Yes, I experienced the same symptoms - the gear selection indicator behaving erratically and intermittent starting issues. The location of the switch is generally near the top of the clutch pedal arm, under the dash. Access can be a bit tight, depending on your flexibility. However, given the error codes and symptoms, and considering you've checked the connections, it's probably best to have a workshop take a look. The diagnostic might pinpoint the problem and prevent you from replacing the wrong component.

Okay, thanks for confirming. I appreciate the advice. I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on – it was indeed the clutch pedal switch, or more specifically, the wiring to it. They replaced the defective cable for 95€. Everything's working perfectly now.
